Plants and Processes in the Changing Environment

The recently released new USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map shifted now places much of southern Nebraska in zone 6a, and the remainder of the state in one zone warmer than the previous map. It will be important for educators to understand the implications of how this shift may influence the growing environment that supports the health of humans and plant and landscape systems, and to be able to communicate to students how this knowledge will help them find satisfying careers in the Green Industry. The more things change...the more (some) of them remain the same, including identification and processes used to choose and place plants.
