We continue to hear about the importance of investing in education that prepares students for careers that are high wage and in demand. Today we see Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes on high school campuses becoming the norm rather the exception. However, when it comes to dual credit college course offerings, offering traditional General Education classes to prepare students for college have been a focus but not necessarily with a career in mind.

This session will show the value of including CTE courses as an option for students in addition to general education classes. Programs such as Nursing, IT, and Criminal Justice along with other traditional skill-based programs like Drafting and Welding allow students to earn college credit and help students explore possible career paths. We will share how it can work on community college campuses, on-line, and on your high school campus. CTE courses can be equally valuable to students as general education courses.
