Troy White

UNL
Lecturer
Scottsbluff
I am an Out-State Lecturer at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communication (ALEC) stationed at the Panhandle Research, Extension, & Education Center (PREEC) in Scottsbluff, NE. My primary responsibilities are in teacher support, recruitment, retention, and teacher professional development. I began my teaching career in secondary agricultural education where I spent 10 years teaching at three high schools in Oregon and Idaho as a dual certified agriculture and science teacher. This dual certification led to his current interests in developing stronger connections between STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics) and Agricultural Education. I spent three years at the University of Idaho as a research assistant in Agricultural Education and a temporary instructor in Agricultural Systems Management teaching classes in welding and small gas engines. I spent seven years teaching and conducting research in agricultural education teacher preparation at South Dakota State University prior to transitioning to the PREEC in Scottsbluff, NE. My primary focus is in the area of teacher support including curriculum resource development, professional development workshops, and supporting new and alternatively certified teachers. I also work with FFA events at the National, State, and regional levels and have been a member of the Conduct of Chapter Meetings Leadership Development Event national committee for nine years.
